A stunning new promotional trailer for “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle Part 1” has been released, featuring Hakuji (Akaza’s human form) and his fiancée Koyuki set against beautiful fireworks. Recreating the touching moment where Koyuki proposed to Hakuji during a fireworks festival, after they reminisced about their earlier promise to watch fireworks together when she was sick.

The release of this emotional new visual comes as the film continues its absolutely historic theatrical run, proving that when it comes to making audiences cry and open their wallets, Demon Slayer has mastered both arts.

Global Domination Across All Markets

The international numbers for “Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle“ are absolutely staggering. At $555 million worldwide, it’s crushed its predecessor “Mugen Train” ($506.47 million) and became one of this year’s genuine blockbusters. It’s already left major releases like “Captain America: Brave New World” ($415M) and “F1: The Movie” ($460M) in the dust.

The numbers represent more than just box office success. According to industry experts, the performance marks a significant shift in Hollywood’s perception of anime. As Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at Comscore, noted: “It’s somewhat unprecedented for an international anime movie to perform so well domestically.“ The sustained performance has forced Hollywood to reconsider anime’s commercial potential, with Dergarabedian adding that studio heads should be “very happy that, if this becomes a trend rather than an anomaly, it will add another category of film to the quiver of potential content to put on the big screen.”

But here’s what’s really wild – this isn’t just about money. “Infinity Castle” is proving that Japanese stories can pull in massive global audiences just like any Marvel or Disney blockbuster. Hollywood’s finally waking up to what anime fans have known for years. We’re talking about the biggest Japanese film ever made and the highest-grossing anime of all time. And it’s not slowing down. People are already wondering if it’ll crack the top 5 movies of 2025.

With its current trajectory showing no signs of slowing, industry watchers are now eyeing whether “Infinity Castle” can break into the top 5 films of 2025. Currently sitting as the 9th highest-grossing film of the year at $555 million worldwide, it has already surpassed multiple major Hollywood releases, with “How to Train Your Dragon“ ($580M) now squarely in its sights as the next milestone. Should it cross the $600 million threshold—which many analysts consider inevitable—it would solidify its position among the year’s true blockbuster elite.
